On Saturday night a white van rammed into the crowd celebrating Berlin's Christopher Street Day (CSD) in the Tiergarten area, killing a woman and injuring 29 people, many seriously. The driver, identified as 21‑year‑old Abdul B., fled the scene, confronted police with a knife and was shot dead by the special police unit (SEK).

Berlin’s fire brigade and medical teams treated victims on site and set up a counselling tent.
