Berlin Döner meat authenticity questioned by food influencer
Food influencer Hamzaeats, known as ‘Hamzaeats’, has raised concerns regarding the authenticity of Halal meat in Berlin’s kebab shops. During a podcast appearance with Arafat Abou-Chaker, Hamzaeats claimed that approximately 80 percent of Döner meat in Berlin is not actually Halal, despite many establishments claiming otherwise.
The influencer noted that Halal meat is often more expensive because it requires manual slaughtering, which can add two to three euros to the price. He encouraged consumers to verify the origin of the meat by asking vendors specifically which manufacturers they use, suggesting that a refusal to answer may indicate a lack of transparency.
Abou-Chaker also criticized the high prices currently charged by many kebab shops in Berlin, describing them as excessive for younger customers.
