Berlin Equality Parade attacker Abdul Ballout found after family tips

On 25 July 2026 a 21‑year‑old Islamist gunman, Abdul Ballout, drove a minivan into the crowd at Berlin’s Equality Parade (Christopher Street Day) in the Tiergarten park, then attacked people with a machete. One Polish woman was killed and more than 30 people were injured.

German police located Ballout several hours later in a garden plot (parcel 46) in the Spandau district after his father and a family friend provided the location to investigators. Special‑operations officers attempted to arrest him, and he was shot dead during the confrontation.

The incident has been described as a terrorist attack, prompting a police‑ministerial press conference and renewed discussion on security measures for large public events.
