Berlin driver killed in crash from Bösebrücke onto S-Bahn tracks
A fatal car accident occurred in northern Berlin during the early hours of Sunday morning when a vehicle crashed through the railing of the Bösebrücke. The car fell into the S-Bahn tracks at the Bornholmer Straße station, located between the Gesundbrunnen and Prenzlauer Berg districts.
Emergency responders attempted resuscitation, but the driver died at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released. The accident occurred around 2:45 a.m. after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, striking two bollards and the roadside before hitting the bridge railing.
The incident caused significant disruptions to local transportation. Bornholmer Straße was closed between Jülicher Straße and Malmöer Straße, and services for the S-Bahn (including lines S2, S8, S85, and S26) and several tram lines were interrupted or diverted. Replacement bus services were implemented to assist commuters.
