Berlin Festspiele and Bayreuth Festival of Young Artists highlight diverse cultural programs

The Berliner Festspiele marked its 75th anniversary with the "What if Berlin" project, turning the city's Ringbahn into a stage for unrealised urban visions. In partnership with the Japanisch-Deutsche Zentrum Berlin and Japanese artist Akira Takayama, the initiative offered guided tours on four weekends from late August to September, exploring archival concepts ranging from socialist-era plans to speculative cultural interventions across the 27 Ringbahn stations.

Meanwhile, the Festival of Young Artists staged a week‑long programme in Bayreuth and surrounding towns, featuring performances by the Turkish National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra under Cem Mansur, chamber concerts of Clara and Robert Schumann works, jazz‑folk collaborations, and interdisciplinary shows such as mask theatre and baroque‑inspired installations. Festival director Sissy Thammer emphasized the event’s aim to foster a "living exchange" of artistic ideas across Europe and beyond.
