Berlin hosts large pro-Palestinian demonstration in government district

Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Berlin's government district for a pro-Palestinian rally organized by the collective United4Palestine. While organizers estimated participation at over 20,000, police reported figures ranging between 2,500 and 3,500 people. The demonstration, titled ‘United4Palestine – No Peace on Stolen Land’, moved from the Federal Chancellery toward Alexanderplatz.

Protesters called for an immediate end to the military campaign in Gaza and demanded that the German government halt all political, military, and economic support for Israel, including arms deliveries. Participants used slogans such as ‘Free Palestine’ and displayed banners criticizing what they termed ‘genocide’ and ‘occupation terror.’

Police reported several detentions related to the use of unconstitutional symbols or incitement to hatred. The event also saw counter-demonstrators carrying Israeli flags calling for the removal of Hamas from Berlin. The demonstration occurred near the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks, highlighting ongoing domestic tensions regarding Germany's foreign policy and support for Israel.
