Berlin Holds First Drag March Ahead of Pride Parade

Berlin hosted its inaugural drag march on Friday, serving as the opening event for one of Europe’s largest LGBTQ+ celebrations. Around 500 drag queens, drag kings and supporters marched through the city, accompanied by the Transophonix brass band playing the historic anthem “Das lila Lied.”

Organiser Sister Daphne OSPI, a member of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, highlighted the blend of protest and joy, noting that participants passed landmarks such as the Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate. The march precedes the city’s Christopher Street Day Pride parade, which commemorates the 1969 Stonewall riots.
