Berlin hosts Pistachio Street Food Festival amid market boom
The Pistachio Street Food Festival is taking place this weekend at Park am Gleisdreieck in Berlin. Organized by the Berlin-based project ‘True Italian’, the event features various pistachio-based dishes, including guacamole, stuffed vine leaves, and ice cream. Admission to the festival is 5 euros.
The event coincides with a significant boom in the German pistachio market. According to data from market research institute YouGov, retail sales of pistachio products in Germany rose from approximately 170 million euros in 2021 to around 374 million euros in 2025, representing a 120 percent increase. This growth significantly outpaces the 3.2 percent growth seen in the broader fast-moving consumer goods market.
Analysts attribute much of this surge to social media trends, specifically the viral popularity of ‘Dubai chocolate’ in late 2024. While researchers note that such social media-driven trends can be short-lived, pistachio-flavored products like croissants and lattes have maintained popularity in Berlin.
