Berlin labor lawyer warns against signing employer contract changes
In Germany, an employer can propose a change to an employee’s working hours, salary or duties through an amendment contract. Signing the amendment makes it legally binding, but the employer cannot impose the change unilaterally.
Labor‑law specialist Alexander Bredereck in Berlin advises workers to seek legal counsel before agreeing. If an employee refuses, the employer may pursue a change‑termination, which must be justified by operational needs or personal conduct and is often legally contestable; settlements may include severance pay.
