Berlin launches modernized Kita-Navigator for childcare search

As part of the Berlin Kita-Chancenjahr, the city has launched a modernized Kita-Navigator, a central digital search portal designed to improve access to early childhood education. The updated platform allows families to search not only for daycare centers but also for childminders and integrated childcare services.

Additionally, the portal now includes specific search functions for language support and integration placements for children with disabilities. Senator for Education, Youth and Family Katharina Günther-Wünsch stated that the goal is to make information transparent and accessible to ensure that quality early childhood education does not depend on a parent's ability to navigate the system.

The modernization of the portal cost approximately 560,000 euros and features a multilingual, user-friendly interface. This initiative coincides with improvements to childcare quality in Berlin, including a full implementation of improved staff-to-child ratios for children under three as of August 1, 2026.
