Berlin media authority receives six DAB+ radio applications

The Media Authority for Berlin-Brandenburg (mabb) has received six applications for additional DAB+ digital radio transmission capacities in Berlin. The applications, which closed on October 30, seek access to at least one capacity on the Berlin DAB+ multiplex on channel 7B.

Among the applicants is the BBC World Service, submitted by the British Broadcasting Corporation in conjunction with BBC News spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialności. Other applicants include Radio Golos Berlin GmbH, Audio Werk Digital UG (proposing THE MOOVE), Radio Rockland GmbH & Co. The tender is specifically for private organizers wishing to broadcast 24-hour radio programs. The earliest possible broadcast start date is set for January 1, 2027. This specific tender for channel 7B is distinct from a larger reorganization of DAB+ distribution in Berlin and Brandenburg, which aims to establish regionalized multiplexes by September 1, 2028.
