Berlin-Mitte dispute over historic NS-Bunker preservation

The Architects and Engineers Association of Berlin-Brandenburg (AIV) is calling for the preservation of a historic National Socialist bunker located on Voßstraße in Berlin-Mitte. The structure, situated on the site of the former New Reich Chancellery, is currently threatened by plans for new residential and office buildings.

The AIV proposes transforming the largely intact facility into a documentation center dedicated to the history of the National Socialist government district. While the state government has expressed its intention to proceed with the planned construction, a final building permit has not yet been issued.
