Berlin opens “Butze” house for homeless children and youth

The “Butze” street children's house has officially opened in Berlin-Lichtenberg. This seven-story facility, built by the association Straßenkinder e. V., is designed to provide a safe haven, accommodation, and support for homeless children and young people.

The project cost approximately 23 million euros and was funded through donations and various supporters. Key contributors include the Birgit and Thomas Rabe Foundation, as well as several Bertelsmann companies, foundations, and divisions. Other supporting entities include the RTL - Wir helfen Kindern e. V. foundation and the Stern Stiftung.

The facility aims to offer personal support and new perspectives for youth to lead self-determined lives. Following its official opening on October 2, the house will host an open house event and begin regular operations.
