Sylt and Neustadt am Rübenberge: German authorities launch murder and assault investigations

German prosecutors and police have launched major investigations following two separate violent incidents. In Westerland on Sylt, authorities have filed attempted murder charges against a 20-year-old man and a 15-year-old following a shooting at a barbershop. Investigators allege the suspects fired three shots through a window at employees and customers for a reward, though no injuries were reported.

In Neustadt am Rübenberge, near Hannover, at least five people were injured, ranging from light to serious, after a driver intentionally steered a BMW into a group of people. Police officers, who were conducting a traffic stop nearby, fired shots at the vehicle to stop the attack. The driver fled the scene, and while a manhunt was launched, the suspects remain at large. Three individuals associated with the vehicle's owner have been temporarily detained. Police noted that the involved parties belong to large families previously linked to clan-related criminality, though a specific motive has not yet been established.
