Abdul Ballout Berlin Pride vehicle ramming terrorist attack 29 injured

On the night of 25‑26 July 2026 a white van drove into the crowd gathered for Berlin’s Christopher Street Day (CSD) pride parade in the Tiergarten park. The vehicle struck dozens of people before crashing into a tree; the driver fled on foot and was later shot dead by police during a raid in Spandau.

The attack killed one woman and injured 29 others, many seriously. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt classified the incident as an Islamist‑motivated terrorist attack and identified the 21‑year‑old suspect as Abdul Ballout, a German citizen of Lebanese background who had previously been convicted for preparing a terrorist offence and was under a deradicalisation programme.
