Berlin police kill Pride attack suspect Abdul Ballout FAST-MOVING
On 26 July 2026 a 21‑year‑old German citizen of Lebanese origin, Abdul Ballout, drove a white van into a crowd near Berlin’s Christopher Street Day LGBTQ Pride celebration in Tiergarten park. One woman was killed and 29 people were injured, some seriously. After the vehicle impact the attacker used a knife or machete on additional victims.
A nationwide manhunt lasted nearly 24 hours. Ballout was tracked to a community‑garden allotment in the Spandau district where he rushed police with a stabbing weapon. Special‑operations officers opened fire and he died at the scene. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt labeled the incident an Islamist terrorist attack, and Chancellor Friedrich Merz condemned it as a “heinous act”. Authorities also detained an Iranian citizen as a possible accomplice and said security plans for large public events will be reviewed.
