Berlin proposes permanent barriers in Tiergarten to prevent vehicle attacks
Berlin Interior Senator Iris Spranger has proposed the installation of permanent physical barriers in the Tiergarten park to protect against potential vehicle-based attacks. This proposal follows an incident near a Christopher Street Day (CSD) event.
Spranger, a member of the SPD, suggested during an interior committee meeting that robust elements such as benches, information boards, or sculptures could be used to restrict vehicle access to specific areas. The goal is to provide a long-term solution that reduces the need for police to deploy and remove mobile bollards, fences, and other barriers during large-scale demonstrations and events held around the Tiergarten and Straße des 17. Juni.
