Berlin Queer Museums Launch Summer Programs and Film Exhibition

The Schwules Museum in Berlin runs a full August 2026 program, featuring talks on queer rural life, a Susan Sontag reading circle, a free youth outreach project called “Queere Kiezgeschichten,” volunteer information sessions, and a special “Long Night of Museums” with guided tours in German and English.

At the Deutsche Kinemathek, the exhibition “Inventing Queer Cinema” is on view until 13 September 2026. It showcases the work of pioneering queer filmmakers such as Manfred Salzgeber and Rosa von Praunheim, presents historic film artifacts, and offers daily screenings in the museum’s studio cinema. The show also opens Salzgeber’s extensive archive for the first time, highlighting the evolution of queer cinema in Germany since the 1970s.
