Berlin Railway Festival 2026 to showcase historic Schöneweide depot

The 21st Berlin Railway Festival is scheduled to take place on 26 and 27 September 2026 at the historic Bahnbetriebswerk Schöneweide in the Treptow-Köpenick district. The event aims to transform the former railway maintenance site into a public learning environment, offering insights into approximately 120 years of railway history.

Visitors can explore the depot’s workshops, tracks, and roundhouse to observe the technical systems and manual labor behind rail operations. The festival will feature more than 40 locomotives and carriages, including steam models from the 03, 35, 52, and 74 series, alongside diesel and electric vehicles.

To bridge historical collections with modern advancements, the event will also showcase the ICE TD Advanced Lab, which is used for testing new technologies. Additional activities include locomotive simulators, cab access, and demonstrations of historical railway workflows.
