Berlin round-table discusses inclusion in public spaces
Global Goals Berlin hosted a round-table discussion titled ‘Inclusion and Participation’ at Strandbad Plötzensee to address how public spaces can be made more inclusive. The event brought together various stakeholders, including people with disabilities, network activists, and political representatives such as Dr. Sven Drebes from the Green Party in Mitte.
The discussion focused on identifying existing barriers in daily life and sharing successful solutions. A highlighted example of progress is the collaboration between the Strandbad Plötzensee operators and the Joachim-Fahl-Haus, which has established barrier-free access to the water, toilets, and dance floors. Participants emphasized that further improvements are needed regarding public transport accessibility, signage, and general infrastructure to ensure long-term, sustainable change through collective action.
