Berlin school holidays boost bus travel to popular Baltic beach resorts

School holidays began on Wednesday for students in Berlin and Brandenburg, prompting many families to seek short getaways. Flixbus data shows the Polish Baltic resort of Kolberg was the most booked destination, with a three‑hour bus ride, followed by Germany’s Warnemünde and the Usedom peninsula. Up to five daily Flixbus connections run to Kolberg and multiple services to other seaside towns.

Meteorologist Stefan Laps explained that a shift in weather patterns will bring milder temperatures and occasional rain, with a high‑pressure system expected to settle in by Friday: “Ab Freitag setzt sich ein neues Hochdruckgebiet bei uns durch.” Temperatures are forecast to rise to around 30 °C later in the week, but no major heatwave is anticipated.
