Berlin Senate adjusts income limits for housing subsidies
The Berlin Senate has approved the fourth amendment to the ordinance regarding deviations from income limits for housing subsidies. This decision, proposed by Senator for Urban Development, Building and Housing Christian Gaebler, incorporates the 2026 housing construction subsidy regulations and a new program for energetic renovation focused on direct CO2 savings.
The amendment ensures that Berlin's housing subsidies remain accessible to intended target groups. By adjusting income limits, the regulation allows not only low-income households but also middle-income households to access subsidized housing. Under the new provisions, income limits for certain programs may reach up to 120 percent and over 80 percent above the federal income limit, respectively, to reflect current market developments.
