Berlin-Spandau launches winter playground program for 2026/2027

The Spandau district in Berlin is launching its “Winter-Spiel-Plätze” (Winter Playgrounds) program for the 2026/2027 season. From October 2026 through March 2027, eight sports halls across five district regions will open to provide children and families with space for physical activity during the colder months.

Organized by local sports clubs, the program offers free activities every Sunday from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The initiatives include age-appropriate movement programs for babies, children, and families. District Councilor Tanja Franzke highlighted the project's importance for healthy development and its role in the “Spandau bewegt sich!” movement strategy.

Participating organizations include TSV Staaken 1906 e. V., TSV Spandau 1860 e. V., Sport Club Siemensstadt Berlin e. V., bwgt. e. V., and Sportkinder Berlin e. V. Specific locations include sports halls at the Brandwerder primary school, Astrid-Lindgren primary school, and the Wasserwerk primary school.
