Berlin to host Festival der Riesendrachen 2026 at Tempelhofer Feld

The Festival der Riesendrachen 2026 is scheduled to take place on September 12 at Tempelhofer Feld in Berlin. Running from 11:00 to 20:00, the free event is expected to feature over 2,000 kites and approximately 75 professional pilots from 32 international and domestic teams.

Some of the flying objects may reach lengths of up to 50 meters, including various fantasy figures, animals, and Chinese dragons. A highlight for the 2026 festival will be the ‘Schleyerdel’ kites, characterized by long, colorful tails. The event includes a ground program with live music, magic, circus performances, and a kite light show at dusk. Visitors are also permitted to fly their own kites in designated areas.
