Berlin to host screening of Dominique Hurth film on Ravensbrück uniforms

A special screening of Dominique Hurth’s essay film is scheduled for October 14, 2026, at B. L. O. Ateliers in Berlin. Curated by Irina Novarese and hosted by RONDELLprojectspace, the event is part of the KIN*K Beamerübernahme mit Kunst series.

The film, titled ‘Privathandtaschen dürfen zum Außendienst nicht mitgetragen werden / Private Handbags May Not Be Carried When On Duty’, explores the uniforms worn by female guards at the Ravensbrück women’s concentration camp. The title is derived from a 1942 order by camp commandant Max Koegel regarding the proper wearing of uniforms.

Hurth’s work incorporates extensive archival research from the Ravensbrück and Dachau memorial sites, the German Federal Archives, the Military History Museum in Dresden, and various international fashion and military archives in Paris and London.
