Berlin’s “Zug der Liebe” techno parade cancelled after CSD terror attack
A terrorist attack on the Christopher Street Day (CSD) event in Berlin on 30 July 2026, carried out by an Islamist‑motivated assailant, killed one person and injured 31 others. The attacker, identified as Abdul Ballout, was shot dead during an attempted arrest the following day.
The organizers of the “Zug der Liebe” techno parade, scheduled for 29 August 2026, announced the cancellation, stating that the recent events had “drastically changed” the societal climate and would require massive security restrictions, including roadblocks, comprehensive identity checks and a heavily deployed police presence. Logistical problems, such as the loss of about 70 % of ordered trucks and an unresolved dispute over a maximum sound level of 90 dB, were also cited.
The remaining parade trucks will be redirected to support a simultaneous demonstration aimed at protecting Berlin’s RAW cultural site. The “Rave the Planet” techno parade, planned for 15 August, will go ahead as scheduled.
