Bermuda Police warn of bank fraud scam using AnyDesk

The Bermuda Police Service is urging residents and businesses to remain vigilant against fraudsters posing as bank agents. Scammers are reportedly using persuasive calls or messages, claiming to investigate suspicious transactions, to trick victims into downloading remote desktop software such as AnyDesk or TeamViewer.

Once remote access is established, criminals can initiate unauthorized bank transfers. Police emphasized that legitimate bank representatives will never insist that customers install remote access applications for technical support.

Authorities advise the public to never follow instructions to transfer money to a ‘safe account’ and to independently verify any urgent claims through official bank contact information. If personal information has been shared or funds transferred, individuals should contact their bank immediately and report the incident to the Bermuda Police Service.
