Bern Cantonal Police expand virtual services and online reporting
The Bern Cantonal Police are expanding their virtual police desk service to the entire canton. Following a pilot phase for French-speaking residents, the service will be available to German-speaking residents starting November 2, 2026. Through the national Suisse ePolice platform, citizens can schedule video calls via Microsoft Teams to access various services, such as requesting information or reporting lost or stolen identity documents.
Additionally, the police have introduced a new online reporting option specifically for victims of sexualized violence. This feature allows individuals to file a criminal complaint via the Suisse ePolice platform at any time and from any location. Once a report is submitted and confirmed via SMS code, a specialized police officer will contact the individual by telephone during regular business hours to discuss the matter and determine next steps. This digital option is intended to provide a low-threshold, discreet method of contact to complement existing emergency numbers and in-person services.
