Bernadette Szőcs reaches WTT Champions Macao quarter-finals

Romanian table tennis player Bernadette Szőcs reached the quarter-finals of the WTT Champions Macao 2026 after a dramatic five-game victory over Austria’s Sofia Polcanova. Szőcs initially took a two-game lead, but Polcanova, her doubles teammate, staged a comeback to force a deciding fifth game, which Szőcs ultimately won 11-8.

In the quarter-finals, Szőcs faced the tournament's top seed and world number three, Miwa Harimoto of Japan. Despite a strong performance and winning the third set, Szőcs was defeated by Harimoto with a final score of 4-1 (11-8, 11-4, 8-11, 11-8, 11-5), ending her run in the competition among the top eight players.
