Bernalda hosts 2026 Happening cultural event

The Happening di Bernalda, an event organized by the Comunione e Liberazione community in collaboration with the San Bernardino da Siena Parish, is scheduled to take place from August 29 to September 3, 2026, in Piazza Plebiscito. The six-day program features a variety of activities including evening meetings, sports, workshops, and cultural events aimed at youth and the general public.

The 2026 edition is themed around the verses of poet Carlo Betocchi. One of the primary sessions, held on August 30, focused on the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and the concept of ‘Magnifica humanitas’. Speakers Gabriele Crispino and Luca Barnabà discussed the need to approach digital revolution with awareness rather than uncritical enthusiasm or fear. They emphasized that technology should serve to unite people rather than control or divide them, noting that digital actions have concrete effects on relationships, labor, and freedom.

Other scheduled topics include the life of Marco Gallo, discussions related to the Rimini Meeting, and a session on the current situation in the Holy Land led by Father Gianfranco Pinto Ostuni.
