Bernard Arnault and LVMH featured in new two-part documentary
The television network arte will broadcast a two-part documentary titled ‘Louis Vuitton, the Empire of Luxury Makers,’ detailing the rise of LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault and the influence of the luxury conglomerate.
The first installment, ‘The Fabric of Dreams,’ traces Arnault’s journey from a construction businessman in northern France to a global luxury leader. It covers his acquisition of the Boussac Group, his securing of Christian Dior, and how he leveraged internal power struggles and the 1987 stock market crash to gain control of LVMH.
The second part, ‘A State Within a State,’ examines the political, economic, and media influence of the group. Between 2010 and 2025, LVMH quadrupled its revenue to over 80 billion euros. The documentary also explores Arnault’s connections to French politics, the economic pressures on star designers, and the long-term securing of the family empire through his children.
