Bernard Brewery launches inaugural whisky for 35th anniversary

To celebrate its 35th anniversary, the Bernard family brewery is releasing its first whisky. The spirit was produced in collaboration with master distiller Jiří Syrovátka and aged since 2023 in the cellars of the Zámecké sady Chrámce distillery in the Bohemian Central Uplands.

The whisky is crafted from malt wine, a process similar to beer production but stopping before the addition of hops. It utilizes barley malt from the brewery’s own malt house in Rajhrad. The recipe was developed by former head brewer Josef Vávra.

Two versions are being released: an ‘Original’ edition with 57.3% alcohol, limited to 901 bottles, and a collector’s ‘Cask Strength’ edition with 63.4% alcohol, limited to only 100 hand-numbered bottles. The product is available through the brewery’s brand stores and online shop.
