Bernard Tomic seeks Wimbledon qualification at age 33

Australian tennis player Bernard Tomic, now 33, is attempting to qualify for Wimbledon after a 15‑year gap since his teenage quarter‑final run. Ranked 192 after climbing from a low of 825, he will play his ninth Grand Slam qualifying campaign at Roehampton, the venue for Wimbledon’s pre‑tournament matches.

Tomic has spent the year competing in lower‑profile events across New Caledonia, Australia, the United States, Mexico, China, Tunisia, France and the Netherlands. In the qualifying draw he could meet fellow Australian Chris O’Connell, fresh from a Nottingham Open title, while a heatwave adds extra challenges for the six Australian men in the field.

Other Australians also feature in the draw, including Tristan Schoolkate, Dane Sweeny, Alex Bolt and James McCabe, as well as Finnish player Otto Virtanen seeking a spot at the prestigious grass‑court tournament.
