Bernardo Gómez-Pimienta exhibition opens in Guanajuato

The exhibition ‘La importancia del dibujo’ (The Importance of Drawing) is currently being held at the Museo de Arte e Historia de Guanajuato (MAHG) in León, Mexico. As part of the Circuito Cervantino and the 54th edition of the Festival Internacional Cervantino, the showcase explores the creative process of Mexican-French architect and designer Bernardo Gómez-Pimienta.

The retrospective spans over four decades of work, featuring drawings, blueprints, models, furniture, and travel notebooks. Curated by Enrique Giner de los Ríos Parga, the exhibition is organized into five sections: Drawing, Architecture, Objects, Furniture, and Travel Notebooks. The collection highlights how initial sketches and manual drawings serve as essential tools for transforming ideas into physical structures or objects, even in an era dominated by digital technology and artificial intelligence.

Gómez-Pimienta’s career includes work with TEN Arquitectos and BGP Arquitectura, where he has integrated architecture, interiors, and industrial design. His work often seeks to present a contemporary image of Mexico by blending industrial production with traditional Mexican craftsmanship.
