Bernardo Quintana boulevard lane closures cut traffic by 21% in Querétaro
The municipality of Querétaro began nightly closures of the central lanes on Bernardo Quintana boulevard from 23:00 to 05:00 as part of the Mexico‑Querétaro train project. The measure led to a 21% reduction in vehicle count compared with the previous week and added only about six minutes to average travel times.
Motorists report that the reduced capacity has shifted congestion to nearby alternate routes, especially Paseo 5 de Febrero and the Anillo Vial Fray Junípero Serra. One driver said, “Lo que pasa en Bernardo Quintana nos está afectando también en 5 de Febrero y está colapsado,” while others note slower traffic and navigation apps that do not reflect the new delays.
