Bernburg police pursue suspects after vehicle chase
Police in Bernburg conducted a high-speed pursuit after a driver failed to stop during a routine traffic check for a defective brake light. The chase lasted approximately 13 minutes and ended when three men jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot.
Authorities have apprehended one suspect, who reportedly resisted arrest. Two other individuals remain at large. During the pursuit, the vehicle struck a tree, causing damage to a side mirror.
Upon inspecting the car, officers discovered that the Polish license plates were fraudulent and that the vehicle had been decommissioned since 2025. Police are currently investigating the incident under suspicion of an illegal street race. A police helicopter and tracking dogs were deployed during the search for the fleeing suspects.
