Berninitoren: Sustainable residential tower planned for Rotterdam

The Berninitoren is a sustainable residential tower project located in the Prinsenland district of Rotterdam. Designed by MIX architectuur for the Nederlandse Bouw Unie, the tower will feature 72 apartments and a commercial/social ground floor.

The project focuses on greening and densification within a collective park landscape. A key technical feature is the integration of photovoltaic (PV) panels into the east, south, and west facades. This approach aims to distribute energy production more evenly throughout the day and reduce peak loads on the electrical grid, while also contributing to climate adaptation and nature inclusivity.
