Bersama announces 15 candidates for Melaka state election

The Bersama party has announced it will contest 15 seats in the upcoming Melaka state election. Party leader Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad stated that the early announcement of candidates is intended to allow them to introduce themselves to voters more effectively. Among the candidates is Dr Solehin Saleh, the brother of Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh.

Addressing the party’s electoral challenges, Rafizi Ramli noted that while voters may appreciate Bersama’s ideas, many are reluctant to support the new party due to doubts regarding its ability to defeat established political blocs like Pakatan Harapan or Barisan Nasional. He observed that some voters fear splitting their votes could inadvertently benefit the dominant parties.

Nik Nazmi identified Selangor as a strategic battleground for the party, noting that its urban and highly educated electorate could provide an opportunity for Bersama to make inroads. The party has expressed a commitment to running independently as much as possible to avoid being tied to other political entities.
