Bersatu confirms end of political cooperation with PAS

Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has confirmed that the political cooperation between Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and PAS has ended. Speaking at Bersatu’s 10th anniversary celebration, Muhyiddin stated that the decision to terminate the partnership was made by PAS rather than Bersatu.

The decision follows a special meeting of the PAS Central Working Committee and an endorsement by the PAS Syura Ulama Council on June 2. The move was reportedly based on policy, religious, and public-interest considerations centered on the principle of Muslim unity. This shift effectively ends the cooperation between the two primary pillars of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.

Muhyiddin indicated that Bersatu is now exploring new political alignments ahead of the upcoming General Election. He described the party as being open to negotiations with any party willing to form a partnership, provided the cooperation is based on sincerity rather than political opportunism.
