Bertalan Havasi threatens lawsuit over unpaid government salary
Bertalan Havasi, the former Fidesz communications director, has threatened to launch an administrative lawsuit against the Hungarian government if his unpaid salary is not settled by Monday. Havasi claims that his monthly allowance, which he is entitled to during a six-month release period ending November 16, was not paid on August 5.
According to Havasi, records from the Hungarian State Treasury indicate that payroll processing occurred and taxes and contributions were deducted, but the funds were not transferred. He is working with lawyer Róbert Répássy, a former Fidesz judicial state secretary, who has issued a formal demand to the Prime Minister's Office for payment.
Havasi stated that if the payment is not received, he will pursue legal action and file a report regarding potential abuse of office against Péter Magyar and the decision-makers at the Prime Minister's Office. While the government previously acknowledged his right to the allowance, the most recent installment remains outstanding.
