Berti Vogts urges Matthias Sammer to join Jürgen Klopp as Germany coach
Former German national team manager Berti Vogts wrote in the Rheinische Post that Jürgen Klopp would be the “perfect” successor to current coach Julian Nagelsmann. Vogts adds that the appointment would be strongest if former captain and 1996 European‑champion Matthias Sammer were placed alongside Klopp as a senior assistant.
Vogts argues that Sammer brings “leadership, ambition and the ability to influence players” and that a duo without ego would echo the successful partnership of Jürgen Klinsmann and Joachim Löw that led Germany to the 2006 home World Cup. He praises Klopp’s international experience, communicative skills and “fire” that he believes can revitalize the national side.
The proposal is presented as a “perfect complement” to give the future Germany coach a strong right‑hand man and to restore the drive Vogts feels has been missing from the squad.
