Bertolt-Brecht-Gymnasium students visit mining heritage sites

Students and teachers from Bertolt-Brecht-Gymnasium Schwarzenberg and Gymnasium Ostrov participated in a joint educational excursion on June 19.

The group visited the Röhling-Stolln mine in Tannenberg, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The tour included a 600-meter descent via mine railway to explore the medieval mining complex, which features a 9-meter diameter water wheel and historical mining equipment.

The excursion continued to the Latin Library in Jáchymov, home to one of Central Europe’s most significant literary collections. The visit included a presentation on the library's history and its collection of manuscripts, including a Hebrew parchment codex dating back to at least the 12th century.
