Besana Brianza hit-and-run driver identified after striking two minors

A 62-year-old man has been identified and reported to the Monza Prosecutor's Office following a hit-and-run accident in Besana Brianza. The incident occurred around 10:00 PM on September 19, 2026, on Viale John and Robert Kennedy, when the driver struck a scooter carrying two 16-year-old local residents.

Following the violent collision, the driver fled the scene without providing assistance. Carabinieri investigators were able to identify the suspect after discovering the vehicle's front license plate, which had detached during the impact. The driver was located at his home the following day and faces charges of failure to render aid and causing road injuries.

Both victims were rushed to the hospital. The driver of the scooter was treated at Merate Hospital and discharged with a 15-day prognosis, while the passenger was hospitalized at San Gerardo Hospital in Monza due to serious injuries.
