Besançon runner injured by chamois charge
A 30-year-old trail runner was seriously injured after being charged by a chamois in the Chapelle-des-Buis sector near Besançon on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The victim, Milena Lanaud Lecomte, was descending toward the chemin des Trois Châtels when the animal struck her, causing her to lose consciousness for several minutes.
Medical examinations revealed deep wounds to her shoulder consistent with chamois horns, requiring ten stitches, as well as head injuries that necessitated 18 staples. This incident marks the fourth reported chamois attack on runners in the Chapelle-des-Buis area in the last eight years.
