Besar Durmishi discusses minimum wage reforms and state enterprise laws

Besar Durmishi, the Minister of Economy and Labor, has announced that the government is open to dialogue with social partners regarding a new formula for adjusting the minimum wage. The proposed changes would involve calculations based on the median wage, though Durmishi emphasized that all solutions must be grounded in real economic parameters.

Addressing the new Law on Public Enterprises in State Ownership, Durmishi denied rumors of state share sales, clarifying that the law is part of a reform agenda with implementation delayed for one year to allow institutions to adapt. Additionally, the Minister announced two new public calls providing seven million denars in financial support to enhance the competitiveness of domestic manufacturing companies. He noted that while there are pressures regarding the March wage adjustment, only approximately 30,000 out of 750,000 employees in the country currently receive the minimum wage.
