Beskid Śląski railway project revival proposed

A pre-war railway project in the Beskid Śląski region has returned to public debate. The proposed route would connect Wisła, Istebna, Koniaków, and Zwardoń, aiming to improve communication and tourism in one of southern Poland’s most popular mountain regions.

Local authorities and residents believe the investment would boost regional development, reduce traffic congestion, and provide year-round public transport to mountain towns that currently lack rail access. However, the Ministry of Infrastructure has noted that the project is not currently included in the National Railway Program through 2030 or 2032, meaning its future depends on regional decisions and funding.
