Beskid mountains host traditional autumn sheep drives
Traditional autumn sheep drives, known as redyk, have taken place across the Beskid mountain ranges in Poland, marking the end of the grazing season.
In the Istebna municipality, a procession led by shepherd Jan Bzdyk moved through the Złoty Gronień on Tyniok. The event included traditional elements such as the sound of trombity, demonstrations of bundz cheese production, and regional music. The ceremony concluded with a blessing for the end of the pastoral season.
In the Beskid Sądecki region, a large flock of approximately 1,400 sheep, led by shepherd Józef Klimowski, passed through the spa town of Piwniczna-Zdrój. This large-scale movement serves as a symbolic conclusion to the months-long grazing period on mountain pastures and highlights the enduring pastoral heritage of the Carpathian region.
