BETA Technologies receives FAA certification for ALIA eVTOL aircraft
BETA Technologies has received an unprecedented airworthiness certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its ALIA eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft. This certification allows the Vermont-based company to conduct flight operations with participants for the purpose of market research studies.
The approval expands the authorized operating zones for the A250 model, enabling the aircraft to fly in more areas and collect additional data. The certification also permits the aircraft to operate out of commercial airports.
This milestone is part of a broader FAA initiative to test eVTOL technology in real-world scenarios. This includes the eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP), which aims to test various applications such as air taxis, regional passenger transport, and emergency medical responses through pilot projects across the United States.
