Bethesda: Elder Scrolls VI on schedule despite Xbox layoffs

Bethesda Game Studios told YouTuber MrMattyPlays that the recent Microsoft Xbox layoffs will not affect the development roadmap for The Elder Scrolls VI, confirming the project remains on track. The studio also reiterated its commitment to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which is set for a Nintendo Switch 2 release, and said performance improvements made for the handheld version may later be rolled out to PC and other consoles.

The reassurance follows Microsoft’s announcement of thousands of job cuts across its gaming division, which had raised concerns about the future of Bethesda’s major franchises such as The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5. Bethesda emphasized that the layoffs have not altered its long‑term plans and that the team continues to focus on delivering updates and optimizations for existing projects.
