Bethesda Game Studios outlines roadmap for The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5
Bethesda Game Studios has outlined its long-term development roadmap, confirming that The Elder Scrolls VI is the studio's primary focus. Senior creative leader Todd Howard indicated that the majority of the studio's staff is currently working on the title, which aims to return to a classic open-world exploration style similar to Oblivion.
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma recently noted that she has seen in-house gameplay for the project, though no official release date has been set. Based on historical release cycles, industry expectations suggest a potential launch window as early as 2028.
Following the completion of The Elder Scrolls VI, Bethesda plans to begin development on Fallout 5. Due to the scale of these projects, Fallout 5 is not expected to arrive until the 2030s. To bridge the gap between major releases, Bethesda has confirmed upcoming remasters for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.
